Competitions

The competitions. The serious stuff. The competitions are an important part of Keith Festival. Competitors come in all shapes and sizes, are all ages and from all walks of life. The competitions are open to all so you may see some weel kent faces amongst the entrants. But the main idea behind these competitions is to encourage young people into the tradition - to learn the songs and sing them - to pick up an instrument and play - to hold an audience spellbound with an ancient story.

All entry forms may be obtained at the Longmore Hall from 10.00am on Saturday - Competition day. Completed entry forms should be handed to officials there and will be accepted up to 15 minutes before the start of the competition.

No entries will be accepted after the competition has started.

In case of any dispute, the TMSA will accept the decision of the adjudicator as being final.

Competitors must be under the specified maximum age on the day of the competition.

Junior competitions are open to those under 16 on the day of the competition. Under 16 means that if you are 16 on the day of the competition, you must enter the Senior competition.

The Keith Branch of TMSA is indebted to all the individuals and firms who have donated trophies for the competitions.

Trophies are presented at the start of the Prizewinners Concert which takes place on Saturday evening
